HELP MANNY KICK CANCER IN THE ASS!
Donation protected
Sometimes life surprises us with bumps or potholes on our journey... In November 2017, our dear Manuela encountered a 'bump' on her journey, in the form of a lump on her breast. Acting quickly, Manny went for all the necessary tests, and a biopsy, giving her the positive outcome we had all hoped for: Negative for Cancer.
However, in April 2018, the lump had grown. And, in May 2018, a lumpectomy, and the resulting biopsy provided the news everyone feared: the results were positive for Cancer. Fortunately, the removal of the growing lump proved to have been the right choice.
Even though the lump had been removed, in June 2018, Manny began radiation treatment as a precautionary step, and the doctors also elected to also do a Lymph Node biopsy to cover all basis points. And, thankfully, the Lymph Node results were not cancerous.
With radiation treatments underway, this brings us to July 2018 and an oncology appointment, where it was unfortunately discovered and disclosed to Manuela and her family that the cancerous lump that was removed had tested positive for a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), which promotes the growth of cancer cells. While HER2 is only found in 20% of cancer, it is the most aggressive component of cancer, requiring aggressive treatment.
On July 18, 2018, Manny will commence Chemotherapy affecting her ability to work and support herself and her family. While she insists she still wants to work at some capacity during treatment, she has agreed to follow medical advice and guidance during the weeks and months ahead.
This is where we need your help.
The financial burden on persons affected by cancer treatment can be scary, and quite honestly, incredibly difficult. There will be unexpected expenses and costs not covered by OHIP.
To know Manny is to LOVE HER - it's an instant reaction every time one interacts with her. Our entire Sutton Summit Family is rallying together to encourage, support, and help Manuela with her journey towards restoring good health that is ahead of her.
Your contribution is not only greatly appreciated, but it will give Manny the financial peace-of-mind she desperately needs while she undergoes treatment. Please email/text your friends/colleagues and share the link to this GoFundMe page to encourage others to help also.
We conclude this story with a huge THANK YOU and look forward to celebrating together when all is done, and we've succeeded in kicking this cancer in the ass!!!
