Hello, my name is Maram Ibrahim, a 13-year-old girl from Gaza. Today, I ask for your help to ease the devastating impact of the war that has changed my life.

I was a lively and ambitious child, known for my academic achievements and artistic talents. But for the past nine months, war has swept through our region, destroying everything. Life has become difficult and harsh after living in peace and security.

Our home has been completely destroyed, and our beautiful green city is no longer habitable. We’ve moved from one place to another, looking for a safe shelter. My siblings, 10-year-old Abdulrahman, and 2-year-old Adam, and I are trying to survive in harsh conditions with a lack of basic resources such as food, water, clothing, and shelter.

These are photos of my brother Adam, who looks terrified and confused by the loud sounds of rockets and explosions nearby. Fear and anxiety control us all during these difficult and painful moments. Adam's eyes reflect the fear and panic from the horrific events around us, with a strong desire to stop the bloodshed and end this devastating conflict, blending fear, despair, and longing for peace.

What made my family consider fleeing this hell is the fear of becoming victims and being killed in this war imposed upon us while we are innocent, and the destruction of educational buildings and social institutions, especially those for children and families, with nothing left. This is a serious indicator that educational resources will not be available in the coming years, which will impact our future, mine and my siblings’.

I wonder about my basic rights that I should enjoy, just like other children around the world:

My right to play and enjoy my childhood
My right to education and to pursue my talents
My right to have food and drink
My right to live in a safe and stable home
My right to protection and safety from harm and danger
My right to see and interact with my friends freely
My right to have clean and tidy clothes

My Right to Play

Remember, I am just a child. I want to live my childhood and play like any other child in the world. My days used to be filled with play and laughter with my friends, but the war turned my life upside down.

My innocent dreams and games have turned into nightmares and destruction. I don’t want to spend my days in fear and sadness. I want to return to playing safely and peacefully.

Help me reclaim my childhood and have the simple right to play and live in peace.

Donations will help us escape this hell and live safely. The donations will be used for:

Travel costs to Egypt and securing temporary accommodation with my aunt.
Daily living expenses and emergencies during the transition period.
Education costs for me and my brother Abdulrahman at a new school.
Any other essential needs to ensure a safe new beginning for us
