Help Marc Beat Colon Cancer

On January 22, 2024, our 30-year-old son, Marc Richmond, was diagnosed with colon cancer. We are all still in shock and processing this news. As you can imagine, the last two weeks have been filled with tests and appointments and preparing for upcoming surgery on Feb 6,2024.

During the testing it was discovered Marc has Invasive Adenocarcinoma, which is very aggressive and will require immediate low anterior bowel resection surgery.

Marc recently separated from the US Air Force, bought a house and transitioned to a job in Wisconsin. He is new at his work and does not qualify for paid or unpaid leave. Marc has a family to take care of which includes his wife Jessica and two small children. I have set up this go fund me to help Marc take care of medical costs that will not be covered by his insurance and to help him pay his monthly bills while he is recovering from surgery and cancer treatment.

The surgery itself is $77,000 and Marc’s portion out of pocket is $24,000. This amount does not include 6 days in the hospital, and all of the tests, scans and procedures conducted in the previous two weeks.

Anyone who knows Marc knows he is a hard worker and would do anything to help when others have a need. He is already trying to figure out how he can work from home while recovering. Our family would like to see him be able to rest and recuperate and not worry about finances so he can put all of his concentration towards beating cancer.

The good news in this is that the cancer was found early and that none of the other tests have detected cancer anywhere else in Marc’s body at this time.
