Help Marc & Dane Rebuild After Storm Helene

We relocated to Damascus, Virginia, in July of 2024 to take over an amazing inn and restaurant. In September 2024, storm Helene came through and destroyed a lot of our town and its businesses.

Dane and I lost our jobs as managers and lost our house as a result of everything that happened. (No hard feelings, they had to do what was best for them). We did not receive any funds, grants, loans or any other form of help from the government even though we were promised financial help. Unfortunately, we are now living in a pop-up camper with our two dogs and cat. To say that this has been a horrible year would be an understatement. That said, we are very blessed and grateful to have the love and support that we do down here.

Due to everything going on, our mental, physical and emotional health was not in good shape. At this point a co-worker and very dear friend of ours offered to take Dane with her across county, all expense's paid. I don't know if she knew that she was saving us both with that trip. Seeing Dane smile again, even if for just a minute saved me. We have had some pretty amazing people come into our lives since arriving her in Virginia.

We are happy and recovering, but the stress of losing everything has been devastating, to say the least. I was able to get a job, but it does not pay well, and we are struggling to rebuild our lives and replace what we lost. We are open to relocating again if need be, but we need help to buy a better camper and/or secure housing.

I hate that it has come to this, but I pray that some will have it in their hearts to help us. We are both very hard-working people, but this devastating loss has taken us to a place we never thought we could end up.
