Help Marc Wyzomirski Walk Again

Hello everyone. I’m starting this GoFundMe in the hopes of covering some of the financial burden that has arisen since my husband, Marc Wyzomirski, became suddenly ill.

Marc had been experiencing pain in his neck & shoulders for a few months this year. After a medical visit, we were told he seems to have a herniated disc in his neck, but his health insurance is abysmal, so he was denied an MRI & further targeted medical intervention. After a few weeks of taking it easy, he appeared to be improving, but that was quickly reversed when we came down with COVID-19 & Marc’s neck pain returned with a vengeance. On Thursday, August 22nd, Marc suddenly began to experience paralysis & numbness in his legs. I took him to our nearest emergency room; he had to use a wheelchair to get inside since he’d lost almost all feeling in & control over his legs by then. From there, he was immediately transferred to a larger, state of the art hospital three (3) hours away from home. It was there we were told the COVID-19 had exacerbated a hereditary, degenerative condition called Congenital Cervical Stenosis. This meant that Marc’s spinal cord was being crushed by his own vertebrae, which accounted for the pain, numbness, tingling, & paralysis. We were told by neurology if there was to be any hope for Marc to walk again, he’d need to undergo immediate surgery to release the pressure on his spinal cord & fuse two (2) of his vertebrae together. He had this surgery on Sunday, August 25th, & is currently recovering. He’s expected to remain in the hospital for four (4) weeks, some of which will be spent at an intensive, inpatient physical rehabilitation facility. He’ll be focusing on learning to walk again & regaining fine motor skills in his hands while there.

This is only the beginning, however, as we’re now facing immense financial responsibilities for the topnotch care he’s receiving. His insurance is expected to cover only a small portion of the care needed, so we’ll be saddled with an exceptionally large medical bill. There’s also the expense of gas (I have to go home periodically to handle things there, then make the 3 hour drive back to Marc), food, staying up to date with our bills since Marc is incapacitated, and other basic necessities.
