Help Marcella to finish her PhD

Hello everyone, my name is Marcella, and I am an exchange Ph.D. student from Brazil. I have dedicated years of my career to breast cancer research. Currently, I am a research fellow at Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, researching metabolomic approaches to the diagnosis, prognosis, and drug resistance assessment in breast cancer survivors.
The financial aid institution in Brazil was supposed to send me funding to support my living in Boston while doing my research. However, the institution has stopped sending me money since last July. I’ve tried to contact them and solve the problem since, but nothing has changed. I’m not eligible to receive a salary or find a job outside of my Ph.D. due to my visa restriction. I have been able to continue studying until now with financial help from my family, but they are no longer able to help me for the remaining two months of my research study here in the States. The currency exchange rates between the Brazilian Real and the U.S. dollar are vastly different. Right now, 6 Brazilian Real equals 1 dollars. Consequently, I’ve almost run out of my own and my family’s savings in a persistent effort to pursue my dream of helping women who have breast cancer.
I am asking for help with my rent, utilities, and living expenses for the next two months. The cost for each month would be $1500, bringing my financial need to $3000 total.
I believe that it is necessary to think about the importance of representation in science and how an opportunity can change a story. I am a woman, a Latin immigrant, who is passionate about this cause and wants to do her job in the best possible way to make a positive impact on the lives of countless women who suffer from this devastating disease. Please, if you can, help me to continue my academic research in the fight against breast cancer.

Right now, my study is a continuation of my Ph.D. that I started four years ago in my home country, Brazil, at the University of Campinas. Despite being one of the best universities in Latin America, the program is unable to offer any support for academic researchers due to the unprecedented political crisis. Many brilliant researchers in Brazill cannot publish or simply continue their careers due to a lack of funding.
I am among them. I am so close to defending my thesis, and unfortunately, there is no prospect of continuing with my research. My study aims to understand why some women stop responding to the chemotherapy treatments. Having a greater understanding of why this happens is critically important. It will make it possible to propose more specific and less invasive breast cancer treatments in the future.
