Help Marcia Barber

**We've been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone as we continue to communicate our fund raising activity. Even though we quickly met our first goal thanks to the tremendous generosity of friends, family and colleagues, I want to assure you that any money we raise will go to helping with the bucket list as well as to support Marcia and her family with the challenging road ahead.  Thank you, and please share with anyone who you think might want to help.**

Marcia Barber has been diagnosed with ALS.  Most people, once diagnosed, live 3-5 years after diagnosis.  We’re asking for your help in creating some amazing memories for her, Scott, and her two boys, Liam and Miles, with the quality time she has left.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help cover the expenses of the “bucket list” experiences Marcia has always dreamed about sharing with her family.  With her diagnosis, the window of time for her to realize those dreams with her family, in a way she can fully enjoy, is closing fast.

As you may know, Marcia is the primary breadwinner for her family, as Scott has committed himself fully to the day to day well being and development of Liam (12) and Miles (11), both of whom have Autism.  This dynamic creates unique challenges in the best of times, and with Marcia experiencing the symptoms of ALS, the hurdles to overcome are multiplied.

Preparing for long term financial stability for Marcia, Scott, and the boys is also a priority and will take a village.  We have some plans to provide more long-term financial support in the works - we’ll provide more on that later.  In the meantime, helping to absorb some of the cost of these “bucket list” experiences will go a long way in helping provide some much-needed joy and happiness for the Barber family.

Marcia very much wants to share her love of France with her kids and create lifelong memories for them.  She and Scott have always dreamed of visiting Scotland and Ireland together.  They have talked for years about a trip “out west” to see the Grand Canyon, and then cruise up the west coast from San Diego to northern California with stops at Disney and the Redwood forest.  And they have always wanted to take the boys on a Disney cruise to Alaska to see the glaciers together.

Like all of us, there is so much more Marcia had planned to enjoy with her family.  But unlike the rest of us, Marcia now knows that she has precious little time to make these memories.

Any contribution you make will be put to the best use.  If you are interested in helping in other ways, please reach out to us directly at welovethebarbers at gmail.  We are also investigating a way to set up a special needs trust/non-profit for her kids for the future, so stay tuned.

We’ve set up a Facebook group to keep you informed on her journey with the disease, her status, her bucket list accomplishments, etc.. https://www.facebook.com/groups/921755498530021/
