Medical and Car fund: Gift for my mom
Donation protected
On March 3rd, my mom (Tori) was in a car accident. A street sweeper pulled in front of her right, not giving her enough time to slow to a stop, and totaled her car. The pandemic had already been hard on both of us since I am putting my way through school and she is living from paycheck to paycheck currently along with dealing with pre-existing medical conditions that cause her needing to go back to the hospital from time to time due to having chronic high blood pressure that runs in our family.
The crash caused hairline fractures in a few vertebrae and no way to get to any doctor on a regular basis without paying for an uber to drive her 35-45 minutes in town. The doctors say that she's going to be needing physical therapy and surgery with a consultation scheduled for next week thankfully. I don't know if our insurance will be able to cover everything and the fact that she no longer work due to the pain she's had to go back onto unemployment.
My mom has helped me through much and had done so as a single mom for most of my life. She was a dedicated teacher of 30 years within our hometown but realized that she wanted a better education for me than what the Oklahoma school system could provide. So, she decided that we were going up to pack everything up in our small car and drive up to Pennsylvania. Though we have had some low points while here, I have watched her work her ass off trying to take care of me for the past 8 years, taking up jobs that are way under her paygrade so that I could make it to a good school and have more opportunities.
I am currently looking for a job to help out but I am also still an undergrad student and the only jobs available in my area at the moment have been all entry-level jobs that start at $10/hr. That can barely pay a month's rent let alone medical bills, medication, and transportation.
With everything going on in the world, I understand that not everyone has the funds to donate to everything right now. If you can't that's okay. Please consider sharing this page so that it can reach more people. Thank you for reading this far.
