Help Maria and John Rebuild After Tornado
Donation protected
My name is Mike Shoemaker. I am starting this campaign to try to raise funds for Maria and John Marfisi. They are very close family friends, while not blood related they have always treated me as one of their own. I, along with many others, grew up with their family in Cincinnati and would like to help them in any way I can.
On October 9th, Maria and John Marfisi lost everything they own in a matter of minutes.
Hurricane Milton was hours out from landfall on the West coast of Florida, yet those living on the East coast were being ravaged by tornadoes, one after another.
Around 5pm, Maria and John received multiple tornado warnings to their phones and they
made the decision to find a safe place in the home to shelter. They hid together in a closet, and within moments were engulfed in the tornado.
Their home was ripped apart and their neighborhood was decimated, but by the grace of God they were uninjured. Rescue teams arrived quickly to help get them out of their home safely as they were trapped inside the closet.
They are safe now and alive, but the aftermath of this devastation has left them without their home and in an extremely difficult financial position as they figure out how to rebuild and start over.
Known as “Mom and Pop” to many or as Titi Loly and Uncle Johnny, if you have been lucky
enough to be a part of their life, you know they make everyone feel like family. Their home was always one filled with laughter, love and meals made by both of them that would feed an army of kids in the neighborhood! Together they created a family beyond blood lines alone- they created a family by love.
We are asking for help to aid them in finding a new home, purchasing furniture, replacing all lost possessions, and clothes. No amount is too small and every penny will go directly to them and their immediate needs during this tragic time.
