Help Marianne offset her medical expenses

Donation protected

On behalf of Marianne, her family and friends are asking for any help you can give towards her medical and living expenses.

First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude to the 2 astute and quick-thinking nurses who saved her life by immediately calling for an ambulance when they noticed she was on the verge of collapse at work. Once at the hospital, Medical professionals teamed together to find that her lungs and legs were riddled with hundreds of blood clots. Through series of tests, procedures and blood work they found the root cause ... a cancerous tumor in her intestines. After 10 days in the hospital, Marianne was discharged yesterday. Unfortunately, until the blood clots are dissolved, which could be 4 - 6 weeks, she is unable to have surgery to remove the tumor. After recovering from said surgery, Marianne will need to undergo 6-8 rounds of chemotherapy, which as we all know, can become very debilitating and require more time off from work and loss of income, not to mention the burden of medical bills due to an exorbitant insurance deductible.

For those who know Marianne, you don’t need to be reminded of the kind, generous person that she is and her natural gift of letting people see the best in themselves. Marianne gives more than she ever takes.

For those who don’t personally know Marianne, she is a mother, a mentor and my best friend. She is a single mother of 3 children, LexI, Jessie and Mikey, mother-in-law to Shivaughn and “GiGi” to her granddaughter Mya. They are her world.

Marianne works as a Recovery Coach at a Rehab/Detox facility, helping and mentoring people on the path to a better, healthier and happier life. She organizes and runs an Alumni program, where those who have successfully completed the program inspire those facing similar challenges. Marianne is 1 of 2 Recovery Coaches working with the local police departments and agencies in spearheading a new program to reach out to the community offering support and resources. Lastly, she is just 1 month away from receiving her certification as a Credenialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor.

On top of her normal 40-hour work week, on weekends Marianne is a health aide companion to a lovely older woman, Loretta, who is experiencing the onset of dementia. When she was discharged from the hospital yesterday, her 1st priority was to be there for Loretta today.

I first met Marianne more than 30+ years ago, when she returned from maternity leave after having Lexi. As her temporary replacement while she was on leave, little did I know at that time that our friendship was not going to be temporary. Not only is she a second mom to my kids (not to mention tons of her other friend’s children), she is my soul sister.

Any financial assistance and prayers you can offer during this time would be greatly, and humbly, appreciated.
Thank you.
