Help Mariella Overcome Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

On March 11th, at age 20, our beloved sister, daughter, cousin, and friend Mariella was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Mariella is a bubbly, smart sophomore student at Ohio State University who is now in a battle for her life.

This is her story:

“Hi everyone! My name is Mariella Haubner and I am a sophomore at The Ohio State University. On March 7th, I was diagnosed with strep throat and prescribed penicillin, believing I would be well enough to join my friends on a spring break trip. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. My dad arranged an emergency flight home, and just two days later, my life was forever changed. I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, with a rare genetic mutation that has left me extremely ill. In a matter of just four days, everything I knew as 'normal' was taken away—no more school, no more seeing friends, no more going out, no more living in my sorority house with my best friends, no more living a typical life. Masks have become a constant presence as I can no longer see the full faces of my loved ones.

If you know Mariella, you know no matter what she does, she does it with determination, confidence, and positivity, which is no different now in her fight with cancer. At only 20 years old, she is full of life and eager to get back to all the life she has left to live. We are asking for help to support Mariella and her family so they can focus on her treatment and recovery. Every dollar will go towards residual medical bills that will not be covered by insurance, tuitions, and any other necessary expenses to get Mariella back to a healthy life so her family can focus on surrounding her with love as they fight this battle with her.
