Help Marines Save Afghan Translator

EDIT on 08/16/21: The United States Military is taking control of Kabul airport. Commercial flights are no longer an option. We want to get Carl on a military evacuation flight for SIV applicants & vulnerable Afghans. Since we can no longer buy flights, funds will be focused on the other expenses listed below, to help their family set up a new life in the United States.  Thanks!

Hi there, I'm Colleen McAuley and I'm helping a group of former 3/3 Marines evacuate their Afghan interpreter & his young family out of Afghanistan. The Taliban is hunting down and killing translators who aided the United States & Coalition forces, and we believe our friend, Carl, will be killed if we don't offer immediate help.

What's Happening in Afghanistan?

As the US & Coalition forces leave Afghanistan, the Taliban has violently taken control of 65% of the country. The US has only evacuated 1% of Afghans awaiting their dutifully earned (and promised) Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) for service to our military.

What's Our Plan?

We are evacuating Carl, his wife, and child by commercial flight (while the airport is still operational) to a safe location outside of Afghanistan. We anticipate they'll need to travel to multiple countries, until a longer-stay visa or the SIV is granted. The process has already taken years, hence why we are seeking enough money to cover the expenses of a family that will not have access to employment opportunities.

Steps We've Already Taken:

• Hired an awesome immigration attorney to navigate the visa process ($2500)
• Contacted senators & politicians
• Provided recommendation letters, as required by the State Department
• Sent funds for living expenses & passport renewals ($1000)
• Researched & developed a plan for "Phase 1"

How Will the Donations Be Used?

• Airfare & transportation
• Short-term housing
• Medical & travel insurance as required
• Food, toiletries, basic needs
• Visa applications & proof of funds
• Long-term housing upon arrival in USA
• US-based transportation costs
• Additional lawyer fees (if applicable)
• Educational expenses
• Miscellaneous/Unforeseen

How Will the Donations be Overseen?

The funds will temporarily be overseen & disbursed by me (Colleen McAuley) until they can be transferred in full to Carl or his wife, when they have access to more permanent banking solutions. Detailed records will be maintained.

Why Donate?

We believe in a United States that keeps its promises. We appeal to our families, friends, and community members to join us in showing our Afghan brother the generosity and gratitude of a nation he's loyally served for well over a decade.
