Help Marisol!! - Another Obstacle with Dialysis

Hello, I’m Marisol’s sister and I’m writing this on her behalf. It's a long story and it's tough to fit into a few paragraphs . I just want to give you a brief summary about her.

Marisol’s is a 29 year old with Kidney Failure and is currently on Dialysis.

She was born with multiple complications and had 5 major surgeries between the time she was born until 3 years old. She only had a 50/50 chance of living. In one of the surgeries she had a Nephrectomy. They had to remove one of her kidneys because it was damaged. She’s been living with 1 kidney since then.

About 5 years ago, she got diagnosed with kidney failure. Due to that, my mother had to quit her job to care for her. Marisol has been in and out of the hospitals since then. Currently right now she gets home dialysis 4 times each week which needs to be monitor. This treatment is extremely important to keep her alive.

On top of all that, Marisol still continues to go to school and to work on her degree while dealing with her health problems. It's been a long, winding road but she still manages to continue to have a normal life even though it’s limited.

She’s currently listed on UNOS for a kidney transplant and she can be called anytime. In order to get a transplant you need a dental clearance. The reason why is because small infections in the mouth can spread to the rest of the body and anti-rejection medications can make the body more susceptible to the risk of infection.

Marisol is in need of major tooth repairs ( around 12k she got quoted) that is not covered in her medical. Due to her dialysis treatment is deteriorating her teeth mainly the front ones. This particular tooth is connected to the kidneys, bladder and urogenital system which causes that. She’s medically complex and we are grateful that her Medicare have covered much but there are still many things ongoing and outside of the medical needs that are not fully covered.

We are hitting a road block and my family is asking for any kind of help for her dental work that needs to be done asap. We will be forever grateful and we thank you in advance!

Hola, soy la hermana de Marisol y escribo esto en su nombre. Es una historia larga y difícil de encajar en unos pocos párrafos. Solo quiero darte un breve resumen sobre ella.

Marisol tiene 29 años y tiene insuficiencia renal y actualmente se encuentra en diálisis.Nació con múltiples complicaciones y tuvo 5 cirugías mayores desde que nació hasta los 3 años. En una de las cirugías tuvo una nefrectomía. Tuvieron que extirparle uno de sus riñones porque estaba dañado. Ella ha estado viviendo con 1 riñón desde entonces. 

 Hace unos 5 años, le diagnosticaron insuficiencia renal. Debido a eso, mi madre tuvo que dejar su trabajo para cuidarla. Marisol ha estado entrando y saliendo de los hospitales desde entonces. Actualmente, en este momento, recibe diálisis en el hogar 4 veces por semana, lo que debe controlarse. Este tratamiento es extremadamente importante para mantenerla con vida. 

 Además de todo eso, Marisol sigue yendo a la escuela y trabajando en su carrera mientras lidia con sus problemas de salud. Ha sido un camino largo y sinuoso, pero todavía se las arregla para seguir teniendo una vida normal, aunque sea limitada. 

Actualmente está en la lista de UNOS para un trasplante de riñón. Para recibir un trasplante se necesita una autorización dental. El motivo es que las pequeñas infecciones en la boca pueden propagarse al resto del cuerpo y los medicamentos antirrechazo pueden hacer que el cuerpo sea más susceptible al riesgo de infección. 

Marisol necesita reparaciones dentales importantes (alrededor de 12k le cotizaron) que no están cubiertas en su médico. Debido a su tratamiento de diálisis se le están deteriorando los dientes principalmente los anteriores. Este diente en particular está conectado a los riñones, la vejiga y el sistema urogenital, lo que provoca eso. 

Ella es médicamente compleja y estamos agradecidos de que su Medicare haya cubierto mucho, pero todavía hay muchas cosas en curso y fuera de las necesidades médicas que no están completamente cubiertas. 

Nos estamos topando con un obstáculo y mi familia está pidiendo cualquier tipo de ayuda para su trabajo dental que debe hacerse lo antes posible para recibir autorización para un trasplante. ¡Te estaremos eternamente agradecidos y te lo agradecemos de antemano!
