Help Maritza Rebuild Her Art and community Studio
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Maritza Davila, a printmaker based in Memphis, TN. On April 23, there was a devastating fire in my art studio and it is with a heavy heart that I have started to realize the loss of many years of work. The studio is almost a total loss. Most of my prints are gone, and so are the equipment like my presses, exposure units, and tools. We will rebuild my studio somehow and my first work will be my memories of working in my studio.
My husband, Jon, will write the story and will use images of the prints and the studio. I will bind the book and perhaps create new images out of the burned ones.
Thanks to all my fellow artists, family, friends, and neighbors for their support. Our house is intact and will become my studio for now. I will rescue any books I can clean somehow. While I cannot recover the work I have lost, your donations will help bring the studio back to life so that new art can be created and the space share with others.
The funds will be use to acquire a new etching press, a exposure unit, flat files to save the art work that was found in good shape as tools, tables, inks, brayers and other materials necessary to work in new prints and other works on paper.
