Help Mark Crowley's Beat Go On
Donation protected
My dad, Mark Crowley, needs a new heart. It's as simple as that. His metaphorical heart is kind, genuine and loving, but his real heart stinks....If you've crossed paths with my dad in any way, you know that he is a giver. He will do anything for you at the drop of a hat without you even asking. I don't know how he does it. So now it's time for me to give back to the man who has given me everything. Many of you may already know that my dad is currently on the heart transplant list at UPMC and has been since September of 2019 when his heart unfortunately deteriorated. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh and has been a resident of Mt. Lebanon since 1994, where he and my mom, Jackie, raised me and my brother, Adam. My dad was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscle) in 1996 and was able to manage the disease with medications until his further failure in 2019. At this time, he is experiencing added decline. As of Friday (2/12/21) he has been hospitalized and is currently in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). He has been upgraded on the list and the plan is that he will not leave the hospital until he gets his new heart. Tomorrow (2/18/21) he will have a procedure in which a device will be implanted to improve the function of his heart while he awaits the transplant. This will bump him further up on the list to the point that the doctors are hopeful that he should receive his new heart within the next two weeks! Due to my dad no longer being able to work, our dear family friends Georgia Connell and Nancy McKenna began a fundraiser, The Beat Goes On, to help cover expenses pre and post transplant last February for heart month. We had other fundraisers planned throughout the year of 2020 but Covid prevented us from doing so. Therefore, I wanted to start this GoFundMe with my brother while we're in the final stretch! If there is any amount that you're able to donate, it would be greatly appreciated by our entire family. I will keep updating this site as things progress!
