Help Mark Duria and His Family Fight Lung Cancer

Hi everyone, my name is Rubygean Duria and today, I come to you with a heavy heart to seek your unwavering support for my brother-in-law Mark and his precious family in the Philippines. We are facing a daunting journey, one that involves battling a relentless foe: Lung Cancer.

Mark's battle began in July 2018 when he was faced with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC), a rare and incessant form of cancer. Despite his resilience, the disease only worsened, leaving our family devastated and clinging to hope. Today, as I write to you, the situation has reached a terminal stage, leaving Mark with a profound struggle to breathe, eat, and even sleep and his family with hearts heavy with grief and anxiety.

We initially sought solace in the Holistic Integrative Care Center (HICC) drip, hoping to boost Mark's immune system. But, the mounting burden of hospital bills forced us to halt this lifeline. This year alone, we have witnessed Mark endure four painful hospital admissions, each taking a toll on his fragile body and leaving our family with a debt of love and desperation. From February to March, April and May, June and July, and as of the moment, Mark continues to fight, and we hold on to hope with every ounce of our being.

As a family, we have already expended more than £25,000 (1.5 Million pesos) with over £ 5,000 borrowed from a generous relative, and a hospital bill of £6,500 (420,000 pesos) that continues to grow with each passing day. We are stretched to our limits, both emotionally and financially, but we refuse to give in to despair.

Mark is not alone in this battle; he has a loving wife by his side, who tirelessly works from home to care for their two amazing children – a vivacious 4-year-old and a tender 8-month-old. The burden of the medical expenses falls not just on Mark but also on the devoted shoulders of my mother-in-law who works overtime to support her eldest son’s fight for life.

We stand here, humbled by your kindness and generosity, as we make this heartfelt plea. We believe in the power of compassion and unity, in the ability of strangers to come together and create miracles.
