Mark's colon was removed and then he got laid off!

Your dear friend Mark Rennie needs your support.
You may be saying, “Wait! What happened? I just saw Mark a few weeks ago.”
Well, on December 23rd, Mark started feeling like he had a classic stomach flu. He went to Urgent Care, and they said, “Oh, you’re fine!”
Well, that doctor was wrong.
On December 28th, he saw a GI specialist who immediately sent him to the hospital because Mark was in kidney failure. The new doctors discovered that he has a very serious and rare bacterial infection that led to a condition called TOXIC MEGACOLON.
The infection is rare. How rare? L.A. County and several infectious disease specialists are investigating.
They recommended immediate surgery to stop it from spreading.
On January 2nd, he had surgery. It was successful and his colon had to be totally removed.
He was in very good spirits following the surgery.
Here’s the kicker:
On January 9th, now weeks into his hospital stay, his employer called: “We’re laying off everyone in your department.”
After four years, he is out of work plus he's missing a colon.
How can you help Mark today?
Make a donation. We hope to reach $65,000 for Mark's recovery.
(Update: We moved it to $65,000. Amazing! Thank you everyone!)
Donations you make will be used to cover:
- Medical bills from his nearly month long hospital stay
- Ongoing medical support following the removal of his colon
- Rent while he recovers and begins his job search
You can also share this campaign. So many folks love Mark so make sure everyone knows. You can simply forward: “Hey, did you hear about Mark?”
Right now, he’s still hospitalized and being monitored closely.
Mark’s family came down from Northern California, and he’s spending his days watching Murder She Wrote and texting. So feel free to message him!
As expected, Mark had extensive notes on this description and is also so thankful to all of you.
We’ll continue to give updates as this wonderful man embarks on this new journey.
