Help Mark with Medical Treatment for Bartonella

Thank you for visiting the GoFundMe page for Mark Dalrymple
In 2019 Mark began to experience debilitating neurological and cardiovascular symptoms. After visiting several Doctors and receiving a variety of blood tests, Mark was diagnosed with a bacterial infection called bartonella henselae after his doctor found unusually high levels of bacteria in his blood. This intracellular bacteria is known to cause debilitating neurological damage and cardiovascular complications due to endocarditis. Unfortunately, this insidious infection was not caught early which has led to many challenges in treatment. Mark was able to find a specialist who deals specifically with chronic Bartonellosis and started antibiotic treatment in June of 2020. The main symptoms accompanied with this infection were severe vertigo and dizziness, cognitive disorientation / impairment, general fatigue, tremors, uveitis, and cardiac arrhythmias. In February of 2020, Mark’s symptoms were severe to the point that he was barely able to stand up on his own. He subsequently took an official leave from Medical School. As of January of 2022, Mark is still on a double antibiotic protocol and is finally beginning to see some slight improvement although his last blood test still came back positive for the bacteria.
The majority of the financial burden has come from the last 2.5 years of medical bills including mRNA blood testing and expensive steroids and antibiotics not covered by insurance. In addition to the medical bills, his medical school tuition was not able to be refunded even though he was unable to finish out the 2019-2020 academic year.
This life-changing illness along with accompanying financial burden has been extremely challenging for Mark. He is staying positive and hopeful for the future, but the treatment / recovery process has been slow and full of setbacks. Any financial contribution would be such an encouragement to Mark as he continues on this journey.
