Markus Simpson is 16 years old from Meekatharra Western Australia and after his Down Under Winter Classic (DUWC) performance in the Gold Coast late July 2022, he has been selected to represent the Australian Waves team. The team will participate in the Perfect Games U17 World Wood Bat Association (WWBA) in Florida, with additional games against the Varsity (school/college) teams, as the lead up to the Tournament in late September 2022.
My Story
My name is Markus Simpson, and this is my story behind my baseball journey.
I was born at King Edward Hospital in Subiaco Western Australia and a Yamatji boy from Meekatharra.
I developed a passion for baseball when my family moved to Mandurah and at the age of nine, I started playing tee ball for Peel Diamonds.
I played in three state championships and represented the Costal Bay Sharks in the Australian National Tournament, Lismore NSW.
After eight years in Mandurah my family relocated to Meekatharra and sadly, I didn’t play baseball for the next two years. I was lucky enough to enrol with Clontarf Aboriginal Boarding College where I continued with baseball, playing for the South Perth Baseball Club.
In July 2022 I played for the West Coast Rays U17 team representing Western Australia in the DUWC national tournament in the Gold Coast.
Last Saturday I received an email from Oz Ball Tournaments, where Kevin Fenn & Matt Cavill congratulated me on selection to represent the Australian Waves U17 Team in the Perfect Games in Florida. The team will also play against Varsity teams as a lead up to the Tournament in late September 2022.
Please help me represent Australia playing baseball in Florida USA.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and this tournament will assist me in reaching my baseball ultimate dream.
