Help Marley Fight Her Battle with Cancer

To know Marley is to love her. She is sweet, sensitive, and loyal. Our Marley girl is the very best pup to our almost two-year-old son. She’s been there for every diaper change, feeding, and bedtime story.
On May 2, she started refusing food. After a couple of days, we took her to the vet who prescribed gastrointestinal food. Another day passed, and in addition to not eating, other concerning symptoms popped up for an otherwise healthy six year old.
Marley was admitted to the animal hospital and stayed for two nights and multiple rounds of X-rays which resulted in surgery on May 10. We had to transfer her to a different animal hospital for 24/7 observation and tube nutrition while we waited for biopsy results.
On May 14, we learned Marley has large cell lymphoma. Our active, always-by-our side pup was a shell of herself, noticeably sick. Throughout this time, our hearts repeatedly broke as our son would search for his “Maw-lee”, wondering why she wasn’t joining for storytime or lounging on the deck.
On May 15, our vet recommended CHOP chemotherapy for Marley. Our primary concern was quality of life, in addition to cost. Scout, our five-year-old golden, who has had two ACL surgeries prompted us to get pet insurance a few years ago.
Marley’s medications, X-rays, abdominal surgery, IV fluids, tube nutrition, and hospital stays used up the entire insurance benefit we had in less than a week and a half.
After several hard discussions and many prayers, we know in our hearts we need to try to fight Marley’s cancer. At only six years old, she needs more time to chase squirrels. She needs to be here when our son learns to ride a bike. We can’t say goodbye yet.
While it is hard for us to ask for financial support, we know the burden of this unexpected cost is worth it. We would appreciate any support you are willing to provide (prayers and positive thoughts included) as we fight for Marley’s beautiful life.
