Help Marni and John Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Marni and John have faced an unimaginable loss due to Hurricane Helene, which caused severe flooding in their second-story apartment. They have lost everything they owned and are now struggling to rebuild their lives.
Fortunately, a friend of Marni and John has offered them a place to stay for the time being. However, John now has to commute over an hour to work each day, while Marni is unable to continue working because of the long commute, adding even more strain to their situation.
As they navigate this challenging time, they need our help to cover essential expenses and find a new place to call home. Any support you can provide, whether financial or through sharing this campaign, will make a significant difference in their journey to recovery. Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
A message from Marni from what happened.
We lived at River Ridge Apartments in Asheville, NC, situated by the Swannanoa River. On Friday morning, we noticed the water behind our apartment starting to rise. It became clear that the river was spilling over from the cornfield. Looking out in front of our place, we saw water creeping into the parking lot.
We quickly packed a few belongings and headed out the door, and by then, the water was already ankle-deep—a true flash flood situation. We managed to get up the hill out of our complex, but on an earlier trip, we’d found a tree blocking the road. Thankfully, this time, a man in a pickup truck was removing the tree. We were able to safely leave the complex and find higher ground.
