Help Martin come home soon.

Hello everyone, my name is Allison and I would like to tell you a little about My sister Sharon and her husband Martin. Sharon and Martin have been married 37 years and have raised a beautiful family in Raymond. Martin is an accountant and worked many years for the town of Raymond, and is currently on long term disability. Sharon worked at Pro Hardware in Raymond and is currently working two jobs, at the Ridgeview Lodge and the Post office.

Martin has lived with juvenile diabetes since childhood and as a result is currently on dialysis. On the night of December 4th Sharon came home from work to find Martin struggling to gain control of his arm which was trembling uncontrollably. Sharon called 911 as things began to unravel. At one point Martin’s heart stopped, but the doctors in the Regional hospital were able to stabilize Martin. Martin spent ten days in the ICU awaiting heart surgery. On January 2, 2025 Martin had surgery in Foothills hospital in Calgary. Martin came through the surgery well and was awaiting transfer back to Lethbridge. In the early hours of January 5, 2025 Martin suffered a stroke in his spine that has left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Martin and Sharon are waiting for him to improve enough to be transferred to Lethbridge, and hopefully home at some point. Bringing Martin home will require renovations to their home to make it accessible for him, and they will also require their vehicle to be outfitted to allow for a wheelchair.

Sharon has missed a lot of work and has had the added expense of travel to and from the hospital.

Martin and Sharon have spent their lives doing good in our community-coaching and serving in many different capacities. Let’s show them that we care for them, and thank you in advance for your generosity.
