Help Mary Fight Cancer with Hope

Meet Mary. Mary is 48 years old. She is a loving daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend, and friend. Mary works part-time as a unit clerk at Trillium Hospital. Those who know her can attest to her being an all-around caring and beautiful person. On September 21st, 2019 - Mary was diagnosed with Stage 3A Follicular Lymphoma. It appears that several of Mary’s lymph nodes may have transformed and become more aggressive than initially thought.
Mary has spent weeks trying to retain and process what seemed like endless amounts of information and feelings related to her diagnosis. This situation was even more challenging for Mary as her father has also recently began cancer treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital. Mary has been juggling life and work in Mississauga in addition to being the primary caregiver for her elderly mother in Guelph, while her sister was with their father.
Mary is ready to move forward with her regimen of chemotherapy starting next week for 6 months. Mary plans to continue to work between her treatments – as she still has bills to pay and other health related expenses not covered by OHIP. Since she is employed part-time, she is not covered with extended health benefits. Mary is doing her best to remain strong and positive. However, chemotherapy is also known to compromise one’s immune system, and Mary will be extremely susceptible (especially, going into flu season) to infection during her treatment.
On 2B Surgery at Trillium Health Partners, we are a close-knit group of nurses and allied healthcare workers who are binding together to help our sister Mary and her family get through this difficult time. Our team would like to thank everyone in advance for your kindness and generous donations, any amount will help greatly.
