Help Mary Jo’s Fight Against Cancer

I am writing on behalf of my mother Mary Jo, or as many know and love her, “MJ”. My mom was devastatingly and unexpectedly diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma a little over 2 weeks ago. This type of cancer requires aggressive chemotherapy prior to surgical intervention. The surgeon states we are looking at roughly 2-3 months of chemotherapy and depending on how the tumor responds, may need more chemo before they are able to surgically remove what is left. Due to becoming ill again shortly after her diagnosis, her cancer treatment was pushed out a bit, as we need her as strong as possible before starting treatment. However in just these few weeks, not only has she felt the physical, mental, and emotional effects of this diagnosis, but the financial burden is also starting to take its toll on her. While my mother is unable to work and has no income, her husband Chris has also taken time from work to support my mom in this journey. That being said, I am starting this to lessen the financial burden on my mom and Chris, as they travel back and forth to Upstate Cancer center between chemo, appointments, and lab work multiple times per week, as well as being responsible for medical copays. My mom has always been selfless and generous towards others, and now I’m hoping to return that to her and take some of the stress from her as she starts her chemotherapy Tuesday. My mom needs all the support she can get as she battles pancreatic cancer. Any support in any form is appreciated. My mom has a lot more life to live with us here.
