Help Mary Kathryn with unexpected medical expenses
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sue Lynn Johnson and I want to tell you about my dear friend Mary Kathryn Crone, whom I have known since 1979 when we studied in graduate school together at Scarritt College in Nashville, TN. Mary Kathryn attended graduate school, as the single mother of a 7-year-old daughter, to study Christian Education. In the years following graduation, she served in two United Methodist Churches and one Episcopal Church as a Director of Christian Education. In 1998, she and I were ordained as Deacons in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church.
On October 14, Mary Kathryn, who is now 80 years old, had a fall in her home that resulted in a spiral break of her upper right arm (the humerus). She was taken to the local hospital and later transferred to the region’s trauma center due to not only the break but also her serious heart and lung conditions that require her to be on oxygen continuously. On October 16 she underwent a 2½ hour surgery to repair the break.
Because of a coding error at one of the hospitals, her insurance denied her going into a rehab center. On October 19, after being hospitalized for 5 days, she was discharged to her home with 24/7 private pay caregivers. After 4 weeks, the time was reduced to 12 hours a day, and on November 20 it was reduced to 6 hours a day for 5 days. To date she has spent in excess of $18,000 for the caregivers.
As a retiree, living on a limited income, this unexpected major expense has depleted her personal resources and there are still bills to be paid to the surgeon, hospital, ambulance service, etc. Mary Kathryn has given her life in service to others, both as a high school teacher for 11 years and as a Christian Educator in the church for 31 years.
Any funds donated will go toward replacing the funds expended, in addition to those not yet realized. Your support of Mary Kathryn through your monetary gifts will ease the financial burden in which she finds herself. She will be grateful for any and all contributions that she receives.
If you are unable to give at this time, please keep Mary Kathryn in your prayers and consider passing this on to others you know who might consider contributing.
