Help Mary Lou Foy Stroke Fund

In the late morning of August 13, 2017, Mary Lou suffered a massive stroke which destroyed 80% of the right side of her brain, and this permanent damage has left her to endure constant pain in the left side of her body and complete weakness there. As a result of this tragedy, she requires full-time professional 24/7 care, plus 12 daily medications. We employ two CNA‘s, one of whom lives in our downstairs apartment so as to save us money, and both of these caregivers provide her with good and loving care. The four of us are like family. As her husband and the manager of her care, I provide 60 hours of unpaid care per week, and am here with her every morning and every night.
As you might imagine, the caregiver salaries plus her medications and necessary supplies, are quite expensive. The caregiver salaries are $1,850 per Week, and the supplies required for her, briefs, wet wipes, gloves, and medications are about $150 per month. We have self funded her care for five years as of this month, and are now approaching the end of our life savings.
She needs your help now so that she can continue to live in our home, which we have converted into a long-term care facility, and where she is well cared for and is mostly happy and grateful for the loving and supportive environment we have created for her. In spite of all our efforts, she still sometimes endures periods of agony, suffering and despair. She’s not oblivious; she is well aware of her situation.
Your help in funding any part of these expenses, especially if you can help support her on an ongoing basis that is comfortable for you, will ensure that she can remain at home for the rest of her life.
Mary Lou would love a visit from or a phone conversation with any of you, her friends, and you will be delighted by her attitude, her humor, and her indomitable spirit to survive and recover. Our home is a place of peace and love and caring, and we humbly invite you to join us as part of her loving support team.
