Help Mary Lou get back on her feet!
Donation protected
Early last year, as she did almost every other day, Mom got up to make her coffee and do her devotions. When she went to take a shower, James called (What a blessing!). She told him that she did not feel well and that part of her body was numb. James told her he was hanging up and called Dad, who rushed to her from the other room and caught her before she fell. He called an ambulance which took her to the Ashland ER where they confirmed she was having a stroke and said they'd be airlifting her to Cleveland Clinic. = They put her in the Neuro ICU. Turns out that she had a major brain bleed, and when Dad saw the scan, he saw that the bleed was almost 1/4th of her brain. At one point, she was given a 50/50 chance of surviving the procedure to relieve the pressure. She had a cerebral amyloid angiopathy.
If you know her, you know Mary Lou is a fighter. Over the last year she has improved, slowly starting to feel and move parts of the left side of her body. Thanks to the incredible help from her therapists and aid, she is in the beginning stages of learning how to stand and walk again. She is making progress because of the care she is receiving, the time and love spent there by Gordy and her daughters, and the Grace of God.
With the family spread around the country, we have been trying to help relieve Gordy (Dad) of some of the pressure, both in-person and financially, but as strong as he is, it is starting to affect his wellbeing.
We've been asked by some of Mary Lou's friends and family how they can help if they're not nearby to drop off food or such. We hope to raise some money to help extend the in-home care she receives. To both relieve some pressure off of Dad, and hopefully, continue her on her road to healing.
The money raised is to help pay for continued care for mom so that we do not need to put her in a nursing home and so that we can have someone there more as she continues to regain more movement.
