Help Mary recover from stray bullet wound
Donation protected
On July 2nd, the unthinkable happened. 58-year-old Mary was enjoying a walk around Saginaw, MI when a stray bullet was lodged in her right temple, causing fragmentation and infection from the entry location. She was admitted to the hospital via ambulance where she underwent successful surgery to extricate the infection and fluid that is puting pressure on her brain from the stray bullet. The bullet will remain lodged in the upper back left side of her head. The removal of the bullet from where it resides would be way more dangerous than leaving it be.
The surgery went as well as it could considering the circumstances; however, in a few months she will undergo another surgery to reattach the portion of her skull that was removed. She faces a long road of rehabilitation and therapies, in the hopes that she will be fully functional to work again.
Mary is an amazing woman. She is bright, creative, sensitive, and kindhearted. She is a wonderful younger sister to Matt, Scott, Gary, Joel, and David, and a friend to all. She is an artist and loves to paint acrylic, water color, travel, and watch movies.
She works and assists those recovering from addictions to enhance their quality of life by providing treatment planning, supervise daily scheduled events, and have them channel their frustrations through artistic mediums. Her family and friends are so thankful that she survived this and is coping incredibly well thus far. That said, the monsters responsible for this unspeakable crime are still at large while Mary endures an extensive and agonizing recovery.
It’s widely known that the state of healthcare in the US, and the system of medical insurance and coverage, is broken. Mary’s family should only have to focus on her recovery, but the reality is that the financial impact of such an extremely traumatic emergency is daunting. The purpose of this account is to make a meaningful contribution to this wonderful woman’s future.
My name is Brianna Robinson and I am Mary’s great niece. Originally from Saginaw, I currently reside in Waterford, MI and was heartbroken when I learned of my aunt’s condition in July. I created this fundraiser to help raise money for her medical bills and general bills (electric, rent, groceries, etc.) until she is able to return to work when healed.
The Volz family, Robinson family, Burke family, and Zick family thank everyone reading this for the outpouring of love and generosity.
