Help Mary Healy-Means with medical expenses

Hi, my name is Haley Donnell and I set up this fundraiser in hope to alleviate medical costs and bills for my grandmother Mary Healy-Means. Early Tuesday morning, my grandmother fell backwards down a flight of 20 stairs which resulted in C1-C3 fractures (broken neck), right vertebral artery dissection, a laceration to her head requiring staples and bruising on her extremities. As some of you may know, she just had knee surgery in June and was looking forward to a life with less knee troubles. 

Upon arrival to the hospital, she remained alert and oriented and also was able to move her fingers and toes (GOOD SIGN!)

Unfortunately, yesterday 8/1, my grandmother aspirated and subsequently required ventilation today 8/2, in order to improve her oxygen levels. The plan is to wean her off the vent, as long as her labs and levels remain stable. The goal is to get her into surgery (possibly tomorrow 8/3), so they can place rods and screws to stabilize the fractures and assess any other damage. For those who know my family, know this feels like we are reliving this nightmare all over again. 

She has a long road ahead of her and since she receives a limited income due to being retired, we hoped this could lessen the burden so she can focus on healing and recovering. As soon is she is strong enough, she will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility to continue her care.

At this time, we ask that you send all the good vibes, love and prayers to Mary. As you can imagine, this has all been overwhelming for us. We will update you via Facebook with Mary’s progress as we get information, to avoid being flooded with texts and not being able to respond to each one.
