Help Mary Rita Beat Breast Cancer

Donation protected

In the year 2000 MaryRita was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in her right temporal lobe. In the 19 years since, she has undergone two brain surgeries and multiple series of radiation and chemotherapy. MaryRita raised three children during this process, at times baring a partially shaved head with exposed surgery scars in a state of constant exhaustion from the treatments. She has struggled with an epileptic seizure disorder as a result of these procedures. Nevertheless she has perservered, putting her children and loved ones before her whilst quietly fighting a horrifying disease.

In April of this year, MaryRita was again diagnosed with cancer. This time after discovering a large mass in her right breast. With no family history of the disease, and after nearly two decades of fighting brain cancer, this has been nothing short of a nightmare for MaryRita and her family. Because of the complex nature of both diseases and the necessary simultaneous treatment, MaryRita will have to travel to Dana Farber in Boston. She has been advised to stop working and maintain her otherwise good health, to ensure the most effective treatments.

For those of you who know MaryRita, you know that she is nothing but a kind, caring, thoughtful, and generous person. Her tendency to listen, offer help, or even express her sympathy are some of her defining qualities. We have made this page to assist MaryRita, as she has for others.

The funds raised through this page will help cover the expenses incurred as she undergoes surgery, radiation and chemotherapy in the coming 6 to 12 months. These include medical, living, and travel expenses. Mary Rita's daughter, Fiona, has set up an account at her credit union for GoFundMe donations so she can manage day to day requirements and medical bills from out of network providers while her mother undergoes surgery and subsequent treatments.  Any contributions in this regard would greatly improve Mary Rita's ability to focus her attention on beating cancer. It is our hope that in doing so she can give the treatment its best chance at success.

Thank you for taking the time for MaryRita. Please share, anything helps <3.
