Help Maryann and Jenny Through an Unimaginable Loss

Our hearts are breaking as we share the devastating news that our dear friend, Maryann Bortman, has suffered an unimaginable loss. On Monday morning, August 5th, Maryann’s beloved husband, Walter, was on his way home from work when he suffered a massive heart attack. Despite the heroic efforts of paramedics and the staff at Mission Hospital, Walter was tragically taken from us.

This loss comes just five short months after Maryann and Walter endured the heartbreaking death of their eldest daughter, Wendy. Adding to their sorrow, the family is still grappling with the loss of their son, who passed away tragically, five years ago. The weight of these compounded tragedies is almost too much to bear. After 55 years of marriage Maryann is now facing life without the man who was her rock and her everything. Their daughter Jenny, who lives with Maryann, is also devastated and struggling to cope with the loss of her dad while missing her older brother and sister.

Maryann is overwhelmed with grief and the daunting task of saying goodbye to Walter, a man who meant so much to so many. Walter was not just a loving husband and father but also a cherished friend to many of us—a man who gave generously of his time and heart.
