Help Mateen - thieves in Alameda took EVERYTHING

UPDATE 10/30: Thank you to all the members of our community who have contributed. This is truly a beautiful moment for all of us, and every donation, large and small, has left us awed by your generosity. We have surpassed our goal! Mateen and his family are now going to focus on rebuilding their lives, relieved and encouraged that the kindness of humanity can overcome any obstacle.

UPDATE, 10/27/23: Oakland police located the U-Haul in West Oakland, abandoned and empty, and Mateen and his family have officially lost everything they own. Police did notify Mateen that his vehicle was located, so after missing one week of work, he has returned to driving for Uber. His vehicle sustained some cosmetic exterior damage during the theft, but we have no more details about the crime at this time.

10/18: Last night, our neighbor's car and a U-Haul filled with all of his family’s belongings were stolen from in front of our building on Central Avenue in Alameda.
