Hello! I'm Mateo, a 23 year old queer transmasculine person. I've been on testosterone for just over four years and using a chest binder for five. This gender-affirming surgery is going to make me feel so at home in myself and open a whole new world of possibilities.
I was going to have my top surgery on May 26th, but I had a bicycle accident and broke my elbow on May 3rd. I needed to get surgery to fix the break and put in a plate (x-ray below), causing my top surgery to get cancelled. The soonest rescheduled date I've been able to secure is in August, but I'll no longer have insurance coverage.
I've finally been cleared by my elbow surgeon, but I am still healing. I can't keep putting off my top surgery and alleviating this strain on my mental and emotional health. While I can match the amount that's already been donated with some of my savings, I've also not been able to work my second job and will also need those savings to support myself in the coming months.
