HELP MATIA REACH SOLID GROUND

Hi all,

We are friends and lovers of our sweet king Matia Emsellem, here to ask their wider community to gather in support. Matia is a pillar of our network: kind, caring, hilarious, and immensely wise. Matia is someone who many people turn to for advice in times of need, a person who will answer the phone and support you through moments of crisis, and who makes us all laugh and experience joy whenever we are lucky enough to be in their presence. Their work as a hairstylist has touched so many lives - they help people feel seen, loved, sexy and empowered through their caring hands and keen eyes.

Matia has recently started opening up to us about the financial realities of their life. They are facing student debt, credit card debt and debt to friends and family, and a growing feeling of powerlessness and overwhelm when it comes to trying to dig themselves out. This past week, their car broke down only 2 months after buying it, and they lost their wallet - adding to an already stressful month. Though they have a growing career as a hairstylist and often work gigs to make ends meet, they are struggling to maintain a sense of stability and have reached out for support in getting them to solid ground.

We are asking for a total of $8,000 to help cover the cost of towing their car, pay overdue parking tickets, covering the loan paid on the car that broke down, make a deposit for a new car, and to fix their computer screen so they can stay on top of work correspondence- plus a little extra so they can build a nest egg to lean on in case of emergency.

Matia's total debt is $6,500 (not including credit card and student loans). We are asking for $1,500 more to put into their savings as a safety net. Anything above that would be a gift, and deeply, deeply appreciated.

Many of us know what financial instability feels like. It is destabilizing and often carries a great amount of shame. We are here to tell Matia that there is no shame in struggling, and no shame in asking for help - and we know all of you Matia lovers out there agree: they deserve the world!
