Help Matimira Build a School and Village Library

Dear friends,
thanks for taking the time to read about us!
My name is Margherita and together with a Tanzania-Europe-based team of powerful women, I am supporting the 1000-million-plus project ideas that Agnes, 30 years old, single mum of a girl, aunt of my daughter, and legal consultant for her NGO-based in Songea, has been developing before and after her accident in 2018.
Some of you, who generously contributed to cover her healthcare expenses in 2018, probably remember her: after recovering from severe and irreversible injuries to her face and arm, she continued her work as a legal aid expert, raising awareness among the rural communities of the Ruvuma Region with workshops and seminars on the need to eradicate gender-based violence (GBV), discrimination against women, single parents and people with different abilities.
Agnes's superpowers are in continuous evolution, and we are empowered and inspired by her incredible strength!
Some steps back... After supporting her project idea to help Matimira Secondary School (Matimira, Ruvuma Region, Tanzania), by providing
- a water tank for 500+pupils,
- sports supplies for 100+pupils,
- locally-produced reusable pads (Mbeya) and training for 177 girls,
- a full-year scholarship and tuition for a girl with special needs...
...we are now embarking on a new adventure...
Our fantastic project ...building a library for the 500 pupils, the teachers and possibly the entire village!
Here some snaps of the location...
The library space today...
Our aim: Ours is a collaborative project proposal: building the first library in the whole village of Matimira, located in the south of the Ruvuma Region, district of Songea, Tanzania.
The library will be a great opportunity for kids, teachers, and the entire village to have access to books, hold a book in their hands maybe for the first time in their lives.
Your support and encouragement have a long way.
Our budget plan:
We have set up a budget of 2500 euro (approx. 7 million Tanzanian shillings) which will be allocated as follows:
2000 euros for:
- building shelves, facility-set up, stationery (a registry, pencils, book tags)
- local and international books to be shipped to Matimira (for a total of 200 books, including textbooks in Kiswahili and English; dictionaries; novels; handbooks; illustrated storybooks; n. 100 copies of the bestseller: Menstrupedia Comic https://www.menstrupedia.com/ . For this latter, an agreement for shipping has already been formalized with the Publishing House);
500 euros for:
-seed-money salary for our two project assistants (Agnes and her junior librarian assistant respectively for 3 months of work each: 350 euros and 150 euros/three months of work).
Thank you for any support in kind (sharing, book donations, books suggestions) and in monetary donations.
And, yes, everyone knows that it takes a village to raise a child.
I would add that it takes a community of generous books passionates to support that village in the adventure of raising children.
Asante sana!
