Help Matt & Chrissy Fight Cancer Together

Hello Friends and family to Matt & Chrissy. My brother and sister-in-law could use your help as they battle another medical crisis in their lives. Most of you already know by now that Matt is in the hospital. He had Chrissy take him to the ER Sunday after feeling dizzy, nauseous and experiencing double vision along with numbness in his arm. After doing a CT scan on his brain, they found a mass in his cerebellum. Other scans of his body showed smaller masses in his lungs, on his spine and on a lymph node outside his rectum. We will know the type of cancer he's dealing with once the biopsy is complete, though they are leaning towards colon cancer.

Wednesday he will undergo surgery of the brain to take the mass out of his cerebellum. He will recover for 4-6 weeks before starting radiation treatments and chemotherapy. He will undergo 6 months of intense chemo treatment and then switch to maintenance chemo for the rest of his life.

We are all in disbelief and shock. Unfair is the word that comes to mind. Chrissy is already battling a life-threatening cancer and now Matt has to go through the same scare and treatment. On top of it all, their 3 beautiful children have to suffer the sadness and stress of watching their parents battle for their lives.

Matt is extremely optimistic and determined to come through this on the other side stronger and healthier. He says Chrissy has inspired him with her will to live and her refusal to let cancer beat her down. He sees how she fights each day and this inspires him to fight. Luckily he is stubborn! He refuses to let life happen TO him.

Matt has a long road ahead of him this year while he battles for his life. He will have to put his reporting job with Fox 4 on hold, though he plans to work when he's able. He loves his job and sharing his love of journalism with all of you.
