Help Matt Get A Prosthetic Arm
Donation protected
My name is Matthew, I’m 19 years old and I was born with Symbrachydactyly...this means that my right hand was not fully formed. As you can see from the photos, I don’t have any fingers and only a partial palm. Growing up it didn’t stop me doing much...except the monkey bars maybe....and I can live without doing them! But, if I’m totally honest, having a little “special” hand has affected my confidence and anxiety.
Last year I discovered a company called Open Bionics that makes prosthetic robotic arms/hands. After a while I decided to contact them to see if I would be a candidate for one. It turns out I am. I have been for fittings and doctors appointments and everyone agrees I would benefit from one of their specially made arms. I am so excited! But...as with everything, it comes with a price. I have to come up with around $8000! It’s not going to be an easy feat, especially as my Father lost his job due to the pandemic. I am hoping that this Go Fund Me will be the answer. I know a prosthetic arm will not define me, but I’m hoping it will boost my confidence and quell some of my anxiety as I navigate the next chapter of my life ... college and career.
Thank you for anything you can contribute to help me make my dream become a reality. If you want to follow my journey here is a Facebook group where we will post updates on.
