Help Matt Recover From A Gunshot Wound

Hey everyone I'm David and I'm putting together this gofundme to raise money for Matt Pruett. Matt is currently in Grady Hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen while working his security job at The EARL in East Atlanta Village.

Here is the story as I have heard it, from Matt and other witnesses:

On Wednesday evening, Matt was working his normal shift at the front door of The EARL when he was called to the bar to deal with a few patrons that were not adhering to the bar's rules and being extremely disrespectful to the staff. After being confronted, things escalated, and the three guys eventually jumped Matt causing a chaotic fight in the bar. After roughing him up, the perpetrators ran out of the bar. Soon after they came running back up to the front door with at least one gun in their hands (unclear to me if there were multiple). Matt did not cower, get out of their way, or give them what they wanted. Instead he stood strong, with his life on the line, and put his pepper spray up against their gun. He got them so good that they were only able to get off a single shot... right into Matt's abdomen, where the bullet still lies today. Who knows how many more victims there would have been had Matt not had the guts to do what he did. This may have ended up being another mass shooting if it weren't for our friend Matt.

In addition to the gunshot wound, Matt has a fractured hip and fractured orbital sockets around both of his eyes.

It's a rarity to care so much more for the safety of others than for your own. Most of us would like to think that we would do what Matt did, but the fact is, the vast majority of us would have been much more concerned with saving our own skin. Matt is a hero, plain and simple.

He's going to need all of our help in recovering over the next several weeks / months. We are hoping to raise this money to not only help out with some of his medical expenses, but to keep him afloat while he is out of work. Matt has saved lots of us many times throughout the years. Nows our chance to help save him. Let's do this!
