Matthew Nunez
A Cross Country Star in Need
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
We are reaching out to you during a challenging time for the Nunez family. On Friday, September 27th, during a cross country meet, our beloved Matthew Nunez, an 18-year-old cross country runner at Christopher Columbus High School, suffered a spontaneous traumatic brain bleed at the start of the race. This unexpected incident has turned his life—and the lives of those who love him—upside down.
Matthew was rushed to Jackson South Hospital, where he received life-saving interventions. He was later airlifted to the trauma center for extended care and surgeries. This will require an extended stay in the ICU. As he fights this battle, we are reminded of the strength and determination he has shown on the track, and we believe that with the grace of God, he will finish this race, just like he has so many others.
However, the road to recovery will be long and filled with challenges, both emotionally and financially. This GoFundMe has been created to support Matthew’s family with the mounting medical expenses and to help alleviate some of the financial burden during this difficult time.
Matthew is not just a talented athlete; he is a cherished son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend. His vibrant spirit and dedication to track and cross country have inspired many. Now, it’s our turn to rally around him and his family.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping the Nunez family focus on what truly matters: Matthew’s recovery. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your network.
Thank you for your support, prayers, and love during this challenging time. Together, we can show Matthew and his family that they are not alone in this fight.
