Help Matt's Family Navigate Their Loss

On Saturday June 22, 2024 - the world lost Matt Clemente- a big, bright, silly & legendary light- leaving his wife Raven and 3 children- Jasper, Pepper and Prairie behind. Matt embarked on his final river adventure high on the excitement of high water and sharing his passion for the river with his 3 children, brother Nick and dog Ooggie boogie. The family faces the great tragedy of this unexpected loss with incredibly heavy hearts and irreparable grief. 

This tragic loss is riddled with miracles, divine protection, and angels who came to support the rescue - all three children made it to safety with with the help of Nick and 3 raft guides that were just down river. After supporting the kids getting to safety- Matt went missing. Search and rescue by boat and helicopter searched until dusk and by providence his body was found and retrieved by helicopter in the late evening- providing important closure for his family. Oogie- the dog was found the next day and returned to Nick in an emotional reunion- another miracle that provided light and hope in this crazy time.

The trauma of losing a dad so unexpectedly is unimaginable- and made even more intense being part of the accident that took his life. All of their lives are irrevocably changed and his family will never be the same without him, and neither will anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a devoted father- goofy and fun, loving and hard working, with an adventurous spirit that was always the life of the party and making people laugh

Matt was a gifted and devoted nurse committed to supporting those in their times of need. During covid- he became a travel nurse to support underserved populations. A pillar in his community, he was working on launching at home health care business.

His passing leaves behind his beloved family that he worked so very hard to support, as Raven. He leaves behind his wife Raven and 3 beautiful children- ages 9, 7, 5. With such an unexpected death, his family is left in an extremely challenging situation. As Matt was the primary financial earner for the family, and had no life insurance policy. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go first to supporting the end of life arrangements and supporting the family and children in stabilizing into a new rhythm of life without daddy.

The family and community are rallying in providing love, comfort, meals. Locally we are organizing a meal train to make sure the family is fed and can focus their attention towards more important matters.
