Help Maureen Become a Nurse!

I am an immigrant from Kenya. I came to the US in August 2020 after my mother filed the legal paperwork for me to come. I have been living under a legal but non-permanent status and working as a caregiver doing home care for three years. I am glad to care for my patients and have become very close with some of them and their families.

My dream is to go back to school at Delaware County Community College so I can become a Licensed Practical Nurse. I have already been accepted to DCCC, but I had to delay my studies in September 2023 because home health work is not high-paying and I cannot afford tuition. If I want to go back to school, I need to be eligible for financial aid.

DCCC told me that in order to receive financial aid, I must have my permanent resident (green card) status. Happily, on August 23, 2023 I became eligible to file for my green card! I have confirmed with my lawyer that they can file as soon as I have enough money to pay the fee.
