Help Max Terekhov to Recover

Hi! My name is Ira Astashkevich, and I am starting this fundraiser for my colleague and a friend, Natalia Terekhova, who shared her story with me. Her son suffered a terrible injury. Terekhov’s family is looking for community help to raise funds for their son’s expensive

rehabilitation and medical expenses, which are not fully covered by insurance. Please consider donating to help Max in his journey

to recovery. Natalia and her family work very hard, but they cannot cover the expenses themselves.

I want to tell this story in Natalia's own words:

Max Terekhov received his Master's and MBA degrees. After working in education and

healthcare, he decided to pursue an academic career and moved to Gainesville, FL, where he

was finishing his Ph.D. program in Information Systems and Operations Management at

The University of Florida, Warrington College of Business.

On May 15, 2022, Max was returning home when a careless driver crossed the double

divider line into opposing traffic and unexpectedly blocked the road in front of Max. The

careless driver hit Max’s motorcycle, ejecting him 70 feet from the point of impact.

This accident changed Max’s life, as he sustained multiple fractures and severe damage

to his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed below the chest level.

Max had three surgeries to repair broken hands, pelvis, and spine. After an extended

stay at the hospital in Gainesville, he was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation facility in

Atlanta, which specializes in spinal cord injury. The rehabilitation can allow Max to recover

independence and lead a productive life.
