Help Max Walk Again After Double Amputation

Donation protected
On December 6th, Max came home from a camping trip with what he thought was a minor burn. Circumstances escalated quickly as the wound led to a blood infection, which led to sepsis as well as toxic shock syndrome. These conditions forced doctors to place Max into a medically induced coma. While he fought for his life, the infection continued to eat away at his limbs, specifically his lower legs and feet. Physicians were not hopeful that Max would make it, but after 6 days he pulled through and was disconnected from his ventilator.

We are beyond happy to still have Max with us; however, on December 23rd, to stop the spread of infection and save Max's life, doctors amputated both of Max's legs below the knee.

The road to recovery requires ongoing medical support, including advanced prosthetic legs and extensive physical therapy. Max will also need to make accommodations for accessibility in daily life, including building a lift in his home and modifying his vehicle. Your donations will help give Max the tools and care he needs to walk again and regain his independence. Every contribution, no matter the size, and every share to help spread the word, help to make a big difference.

Although he still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, Max is eager to push through these unfortunate circumstances and eventually hit the trails again using prosthetic legs. Both Max and his wife, Megan, truly appreciate any prayers, love, and support that you can send their way. We will share updates here as they become available. Thank you!
