Who is Muscat Dog Adoption?
- Muscat Dog Adoption (MDA) is a dog rescue organisation established in 2012 and run by a group of dog-loving volunteers in Muscat, Oman. We aim to rescue abandoned, injured and distressed dogs in Muscat and then rehome them in Oman or abroad.
- We have a farm in Muscat which was opened in March 2024 following the closure of our previous farm in September 2023 and pound in Seeb in July 2022. The farm is home to 18 rescued wonderful Wadi dogs. Once in our care, the rescued dogs receive any necessary veterinary treatment such as vaccinations against diseases, neutering/spaying, worm and flea treatment and any other treatment that may be required for illnesses or injuries.
The difficulty of dog rescue in Oman:
- Oman has no animal welfare laws yet; consequently, there is no government funding for charities or shelters. It is, therefore, very challenging to rescue dogs with limited resources.
Why we need your help:
- We are always in debt. We owe around 3000 OMR (as of November 2024) to the vet clinics we use in Muscat, and we owe one of our team members around 2500 OMR for covering the shortfalls of all the travel expenses for the dogs who we sent abroad since 2021).
We’d be incredibly grateful for any donations towards our vet's bills. Our current bill at Azaiba Vet Clinic is 2500 OMR. We also have large bills owing at Al Qurum Veterinary clinic in MQ. Any amount would be greatly appreciated!
