Help me afford life saving surgery for Miso
Donation protected
My name is Kallie and I am fundraising to afford the vet bills that have come with saving my cat’s life.
TLDR; My cat has a chronic issue that resulted in him needing life saving surgery. Please help me afford saving my best friends life! Any extra funds will be donated to help someone else do the same. Full story below:
Everyone who knows me knows that Miso is my pride and joy. I have countless photos and if we’ve met or you follow me on social media you at some point have been a victim of my Miso obsession. He’s quite literally my bff and means the world to me.
One day Miso started having trouble going to the bathroom. It started out as frequent trips to the litter box which was more annoying than anything but after doing some research, I called a vet and per their recommendation had him checked at an emergency service right away. He ended up being okay and we were sent back home with some medications. The frequency continued.
I soon realized he wasn’t going to the bathroom at all. He wasn’t playing. He wasn’t eating or drinking and he was barely moving. After a night of yowling in pain and foamy saliva I brought him to the vet first thing in the morning. He was blocked, meaning he had a crystal in his bladder that was blocking his urethra and preventing him from going to the bathroom. This leads to toxins in his blood, an oversized irritated bladder, and if unresolved leads to death. I had no choice but to get him unblocked. A hefty bill I couldn’t afford at the moment and had to accrue debt for.
After 3 days at the vet he came home and was healing nicely. I was so happy to have him back.
Nearly two weeks later, it happened again. Another hefty bill and another level of concern. As the vet explained to me, a small percentage of cats experience this frequently and need a surgery to change the shape of their urethra called a Perineal Urethrostomy to allow their urethras to pass the crystals easier. If not, it’s only a matter of time until they are blocked again and with not being able to afford these bills continuously, would eventually result in me having to put him down.
Please help me afford saving my cat’s life! The goal is the total of all the vet bills I have accrued. Any extra funds will be donated to the Steinway Vet Clinic to help another person in my situation and save a kitty! Thank you in advance for reading, donating, and sharing!
