Hello, my name is Sondos Saqqa, and I am reaching out to you with a heart full of hope and desperation. I am married to my wonderful husband, Mohammad, and together we have a beautiful one-year-old son named Maher. We are from Gaza, specifically from the Al-Rimal area in Gaza City. Our lives have been turned upside down by the horrors of war, and I am here to share our story in the hopes of finding some relief and support for my family. Gaza has always been our home. It is a place where we built our lives, our dreams, and our family. But in recent times, it became a place of terror and uncertainty as we endured relentless bombardment and violence. The sounds of explosions became our daily soundtrack, and the fear of death was a constant companion. The walls of our home, once a sanctuary, now echoed with the cries of fear and the silence of despair. The war ravaged our city, and we found ourselves trapped in our own home, surrounded by Israeli military forces. The terror of those days is something I can never forget. We feared for our lives, especially for our little Maher, who was just a baby. As a mother, there is no greater agony than the helplessness of being unable to protect your child from harm. The physical pain of hunger and the emotional agony of fear and helplessness were overwhelming. When the situation became unbearable, we made the difficult decision to flee. We walked on foot from Gaza City to the city of Nuseirat, believing it to be a safer place for our family. The journey was long and arduous, filled with the uncertainty of what lay ahead and the constant worry for our son’s safety. We carried Maher in our arms, his small body trembling with fear and confusion. Every step was a painful reminder of what we were leaving behind and the unknown dangers that lay ahead. Unfortunately, Nuseirat did not offer the sanctuary we had hoped for. The violence followed us, and once again, we found ourselves fleeing for our lives. We moved from place to place, always under the shadow of fear and anxiety. The second displacement was even more harrowing, as we carried the trauma of our first escape and the fresh wounds of recent terror. The constant moving, the uncertainty, and the fear of the unknown were almost unbearable. In a desperate bid to find safety and a chance at rebuilding our lives, we managed to travel to Egypt. However, this came at a significant cost. We had to pay a large sum of money just to gain entry into the country, depleting what little resources we had left. The journey to Egypt was filled with anxiety and fear, but it was our only hope for a future without constant terror. Now, we find ourselves in Egypt without any source of income or means to support ourselves. We are starting from scratch, with no home, no work, and no security. The fear of not being able to provide for my family weighs heavily on my heart. We created this GoFundMe page to ask for your help in giving us a chance to rebuild our lives. Our goal is to gather enough funds to either start our own small business or at least secure a stable living situation while we find work. We dream of providing a safe and loving environment for Maher, where he can grow up without the fear and trauma that has marked his early life.
