PART I - My Dream Opportunity
Hi everyone, my name is Ange Emmanuel Beugre. I am a 22 year old man from Cote D’Ivoire, a country located on the coast of West Africa. After obtaining all-inclusive scholarships to attend both UWC Mahindra College for high school in 2016 and to complete my undergraduate at the College of Idaho in 2022, I am today given another opportunity to become a first-generation graduate student through a Masters of Science program at the University of Utah.
After getting admission from John Hopkins University, Michigan State University, and the University of Utah, I decided to pursue my graduate studies at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business because of its top finance program (Currently Ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for best value by the Financial Times, and No. 10 by the TFE times), but also because of its strong financial aid package. The University of Utah Finance program is a STEM program that, upon completion, will grant me three years of OPT work visa in the U.S., which is a wonderful opportunity to build my career.
Based on my strong academic record, the University of Utah has generously offered me a full-tuition scholarship, covered through direct grants and a graduate assistantship, as summarized below.
Financial Aid Secured towards Tuition: $41,000
- Merit-Based Scholarship: $19,000
- Need-Based Scholarship: $2,000
- Graduate Assistantship: $20,000
My Financial Needs
I am so grateful for the funding received, but unfortunately, I still need extra financial assistance to cover my non-tuition costs, such as housing, food, books and supplies, health insurance, graduate fees, and immigration cost. For the 15 months program, I would need approximately $20,000 for the above expenses to attend the University of Utah. I have been aggressively saving to cover some of these expenses.
Total amount needed:
$20,000 - $5,000 = $15,000
Even though I hope to save $5,000 by the end of July 2023, I will still need about $15,000, which I cannot afford while in school because all of my other income streams will be dedicated to covering my tuition for the 15 months program. Acquiring this fund before this coming fall is critical because I will need to show proof of financing to my school to acquire my I-20 document. Without my I-20 document, I won’t be able to attend the program.
Ways you can help
1) Anything from $20 to $1000 will surely help me get closer to reaching my goal.
2) Please share, if possible, with friends and family that can help.
3) Please reach out if you know of cheap/modest living accommodations in Salt Lake City.
From the depth of my heart, I want to thank you in advance for your donation and for sharing my fundraiser with others that may be of great support. Your donation will, without a doubt, make an impact on my educational journey.
PART II - About me
Throughout my life, I have been taking leaps of faith. It has been quite a journey; I remember like it was yesterday leaving home in Cote D’Ivoire, a French-speaking country, at fifteen years of age, to go to India on a full scholarship for high school at the Mahindra United World College of India, arguably one of the toughest high school programs in the world with little knowledge of the English language. I can’t say back then that I was extremely conscious about my life choice, but I was eager to go outside and learn.
My drive and thirst for knowledge, combined with the wisdom of my mentors, opened to me the doors of the College of Idaho in 2018, becoming a first-generation college student. During the last four years, I interacted with amazing people who tremendously influenced me. From my professors who made me fall in love with Finance and the world of Business to strangers that became family and stood side by side with me during the ups and downs of the past four years. Reflecting on those four years, I contemplate how fortunate I was to be at such a great institution, learning among and alongside people that believe in the transformative power of education, but pondering on these past years, I also realize how little I know and how much more is to be learned from out there.
Attending the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah will undoubtedly strengthen and mature my intellect, laying the foundation to become a subject-matter expert in finance; It will also give me access to a vast network of alumni that can guide me and help me achieve my goals. In the same way, I have a firm conviction about the transformative power that education has; I, with the same resolve, believe understanding finance and business can have a tremendous impact not only on the individual but also by sharing that knowledge can have an impact on communities.

Project Week Picture (India, 2017): I participated with 12 of my classmate in a one-week environmental project in Karnataka consisting of cleaning the beach and surfing, but also interacting with the local population through activities such as teaching English to the kids at the local school. This picture reminds me of how lucky I was to attend such a great institution as UWC Mahindra College.
