Hello everyone!
We are in the midst of interesting times, to say the least (and to state the obvious). Throughout, it's been a real struggle for all of us. But I'm a middle school English teacher, and right now I'm most concerned for my students. I've seen how difficult it is for them to get and stay engaged, motivated and driven.
It has become obvious to me through our training using different platforms, sites and programs that I cannot provide seamless, synchronous instruction for them. I will need to be on Zoom and/or Google Meet all day, with multiple tabs open to share instruction with them. In my training sessions so far, my school-issued chromebook is not up to the task. I consistently freeze up, get logged off, or the meeting ends. If that happens during a class, I will lose my already tenuous hold on their attention.
I loathe having to ask, but I am not (and neither is my school) in a position to pay for this expense that is required to do my job well. I would genuinely appreciate any help you might be able to offer my class. My connection with my students is the most important thing to me, and I can't even begin to build a connection with them during remote learning without first having a connection with them via computer. Time is of the essence...thank you for your consideration.
