Help me buy back my Grandpa's house
Donation protected
I am raising funds to buy back my grandpa’s house. The goal is to raise $550,000.
My grandpa, CJ Curry, is 91 years old and has lived in his home in the Central District of Seattle for over 62 years. This house is the home I grew up in. He worked at Boeing and Sears and never missed a day of work. His work ethic is “if they can go one day without you, then they can go every day without you.” He is a very hard-working man who instilled those same work ethics in me. He owned his house outright.
Unfortunately, as we all know, gentrification and predatory lending (as in reverse mortgages with unscrupulous interest rates) have set a strong foothold on our elders in the Central District community, including my grandfather’s property. He fell victim to this out of love for his family; my grandma was in hospice care, and my dad passed away. He couldn't afford to take on the financial burden alone.
I stay with my grandpa most days out of the week, helping him around the house, taking him grocery shopping, enjoying his company and wisdom.
As many of you know, I am an artist, and all the monetary benefits go towards this goal. Your donation would mean so much to my grandpa and me. Please join me with a donation or purchase art from me to help purchase his home back from the bank.
Please share this with your family and friends. Do you know any helpful resources? Please feel free to share those with me. If you’d like to know more, please contact me.
Thank you for all your support.
Sincerely, Myron Curry
