Help me care for my senior mother and pay bills

Hello, my name is Zeke, you might know me by my online handle MesoTroniK. I didn't want to be writing this message today, or indeed ever, but my mother's situation has grown truly desperate and I must ask for your help for the both of us.

In late 2019 my senior mother began degrading in both mental and physical health rapidly due to her having Lewy Body Dementia. Her care and supervision takes a minimum of 14 hours a day, every day of the year. Much of the time, it can end up taking as long as 16 or more hours and will only ever increase going forward. She also cannot be left alone ever and needs help with every aspect of her life, and she can no longer speak or communicate in any meaningful manner as well. Left alone, she will get up unattended and fall, potentially injuring herself as she cannot support her own weight. She also needs total assistance with eating and drinking or will aspirate food and liquids, and this was the cause of a near-fatal case of pneumonia a while back. Because of this, I cannot ever leave the house, let alone hold a normal job with which to pay for her care. Thankfully I work from home making music, sound effects, quality assurance testing, and other creative freelance work for video games and such things.

But even with the ability to work from home, the increasing amount of care she needs has and continues to rapidly eat into the time needed to do said work, not to mention my creative energies. The reality of this is I can only work when she sleeps, and even then I have to get up to turn her every few hours to prevent bed sores and as a result, I get only a few hours of sleep myself. Even then my sleep and work is not all at once but is instead scattered throughout the morning and/or a time or two during the day. This has dire effects on my physical and mental health, and I fear Karoshi (death by overwork) as I have been getting chest pains but cannot even do anything about that. Additionally, all of the physical help she needs is extremely hard for me, due to having a bad knee. Taken all together this is making ends meet more and more difficult as time goes on, and I cannot ever save up for taxes either. So I end up owing more and more each year and paying into it month to month, but even that is becoming increasingly difficult bordering on impossible.

In short, friends... Both my mother and I are falling apart, I urgently need financial assistance to bring the family debts under control and be able to continue looking after her. Something I can't do if my heart gives out!

The goals of this GoFundMe in detail are to pay off all old income tax debt, pay off the income and property taxes this year in one piece, and pay off medical bills/debt. As time goes on, my situation will only get worse and having to pay into such things every month will become truly impossible and already it almost is. In addition, any money left after paying off such things would be used to hire a part-time caretaker a few times a month, for as long as possible. Such help would allow me some time off for the first time in over three years, and actually see a doctor about my chest pains. I will also be setting aside some of the funds if possible, for future care and taxes as this situation is very likely to go on for several more years to come. Going past the goal would allow me to set aside more funds for hiring a part-time caretaker for a couple of times a month for a longer period than just a single year, and/or more often, and having a larger buffer for taxes and other expenses.

In addition, reducing monthly expenditures by so much will allow me to finance a new roof for this house. This three-tab asphalt shingle roof is from the 90s and leaks. It is well past its life expectancy and I have been patching leaks as best I can, but this is a losing battle and it ultimately needs a full replacement. Leaks lead to water damage and possible mold, which itself could cause health issues for my frail mother (and myself).

I hate asking for help but at this point, I'm at my wits' end. So even if you can't donate, even just sharing this GoFundMe page can make all the difference for my mother and I!

Why not ask the government for help? I've tried and we were shot down for making "too much" money as in just above the poverty threshold for a two-person household. Apparently, the state of Arizona and the Feds think you can live on just meager Social Security and some inconsistent income from commission work while also taking care of a dementia patient and the enormous cost of living that incurs. Because surely the cost of living is the same for everyone right?

Shown here is me helping her walk to the living room, she would fall immediately if I stopped supporting the majority of her weight. This is very difficult for me due to having a bad knee, an old torn meniscus injury. The handrails were once of help to her but are no longer. I however continue to do this to delay putting her in a wheelchair for as long as physically possible. In addition, she lacks the agency to use a walker, I tried to teach her how to use such things a while back when she was not even in as bad a condition as now, and it was a lost cause after trying for many hours, it just isn't workable.

Can you believe they still try to get people of her age on a jury? Her personally identifiable information is blurred out due to the fact she can no longer speak, and thus cannot consent. This had to be split into two images due to the display limitations of GoFundMe.

Almost every time it rains hard, I find more water damage in new places and I do my best to seal them on the roof. I then paint the spots inside so I can be sure if it actually stopped the leak or not. However, this is just putting a band-aid on a problem that needs a real fix of which there is only one due to the age. A new roof.
